English Victorian Leather Wingback Armchair Painted by Ira Yeager
About the Item
Whimsical 19th century English Victorian wingback armchair featuring painted leather by artist Ira Yeager (American 1938-2022). The chair features a painted bust of a masked gentleman "Martin Falkes" and dated 1802. The English man has a bright green coat and an apple above his head. The entire chair has painted leather surfaces to give the piece an aged patina. The generous seat is topped with a loose seat cushion in a red velvet fabric that is faded. The frame is crafted from mahogany with a serpentine apron supported by Queen Anne style cabriole legs. The chair was beautifully crafted and very comfortable. Lovely profile with classic, large wings and English rolled arms. Provenance: From the Yager Galerie Calistoga, CA.

Beautifully crafted with an intentionally distressed painted patina on the leather as seen in photos. Age appropriate wear and fading on velvet fabric with stains as expected. Painted in the late 20th century.
