Vintage wing chair, newly reupholstered in 100% cotton duck and hand-painted by artist Kim MacConnel. Black painted wood legs. Kim MaConnel is a southern California based artist who was influential in the seminal Pattern and Decoration Movement of the 1970s and 80s which sought to reject the austerity of Minimalism and Conceptual Art, and instead incorporate decorative elements drawn from sources as varied as Amish quilts, Islamic tile work and wallpaper. Their goal was provocative: to break down the traditional boundaries between high art and craft and to validate the importance of decorative pattern work throughout the ages. His work has been exhibited at the Whitney Biennial, The Museum of Modern Art and the Venice Biennale. Signed by the artist.
