19th Century Dutch Bureau Bookcase

About the Item

This magnificent and important Dutch mahogany bureau bookcase, exuberantly carved and adorned with superb figural carvings, impressive scrolled feet and elaborate applied decoration. Such lavish works as this were considered status symbols on the Continent and were much more ornate than their English counterparts. The cabinet is in excellent condition. circa 1840. Measures: 68" wide x 24" deep x 105" high.
