A rare English black-lacquered bookcase or credenza with astragal glazed front doors (late 19th century). Ionic pilasters with cabled fluting flank each side, and open to display secret inner shelves (the pilaster-ornamented doors also lock). Five red-painted inner shelves are adjustable.
