George III Secretaire Bookcase Cabinet, England, c. 1790. Beautiful satinwood and mahogany with ebonized wood accents. The secretaire drawer opening to leather-lined writing surface, with pigeon holes and small drawers, flanked by two deep drawers. The inset glass bookcase doors open to adjustable shelves, with a central swan's neck pediment top. An elegant, stately, architectural piece. Provenance: Sotheby's New York, 20 October 2006.
