Pair of Very Rare Curved Antique Victorian Flamped Hardwood Library Bookcases

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this lovely pair of fully restored Victorian flamed mahogany curved library bookcases These bookcases have been on a journey, they came from a rather grand Scottish stately home, they were being used against a flat wall to add depth to a very large room, some alterations had been made so they leant backwards against the wall and the sides had been cut to clear radiators. My carpenters and French polishers have undone all these alternations, the timber has been replaced so they sit freestanding on the floor nicely, the side panels restored so they are solid, both pieces have externally, and the fronts of the shelves have been washed back and traditionally French polished If you were ever in the market for a pair of very unique bookcases there are it, you will never see another pair as they were only made once and it was for this estate Dimensions Height:- 148.5cm Width:- 170cm each, 340cm total Depth:- 31cm frame only, 45.5cm with the back to wall to deepest part at the corner Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Pulborough warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
