Superior Strength Danish Teak Three-Piece Bookcase with Drinks Cabinet

About the Item

Denmark, circa 1970 Teak, locks, mirrored interior Each 33 wide x 83.5 tall and 16.5 inches deep Overall 99 wide, 83.5 tall and 16.5 inches deep One of a kind vintage custom made bookcase and cabinets with the designer and maker unknown, produced from superior teak with triple the strength regularly seen in danish designs. These three unique individual pieces stand side by side and can stand separately if so desired. They have been produced to hold substantial weight and all shelves can be loaded with a full compliment of heavy books without any sag. When it is important to have sturdy shelving that can be counted on to display valuables and heavy articles, these shelves are appropriate. These wall units will not move if bumped and are heavily weighed with the cabinets on the bottom. These are not production line pieces and are from a cabinetmaker of skill. The matching library desk that came with this piece will be listed shortly. Notes on the design as follows: i. All three units have identical cabinets on the bottom with recessed finger pulls in solid teak, and all have a removable solid teak shelf within those cabinets. All units are finished on the sides with premium grain teak. ii. The far left and right unit have fixed shelving and are also entirely finished on the reverse, thus they can serve as room dividers. iii. The central unit is not finished on the back, comes with a central drop down cabinet front revealing an enclosed space ideal for drinks or as a dry bar. The hardware is very substantial and can hold a great weight. the back is mirrored also. Note that this comes with a key and locks. Also, this unit's singular shelf above the floating cabinet is adjustable. iv. The shelves are thick and we also note the tops have drop headers, probably with anticipation of lighting being installed which is possible with LED lighting strips. The condition is good with minor signs of use and some marks. All surfaces coated with varnish. For Danish storage that is as strong as one needs. A great Minimalist design for Mid-Century Modern decor. Discrepancies on wood surfaces a result of mirror effect of the varnish from the background during photography.
