This early and good size Arts & Crafts bookcase with its stunning design makes a great statement piece for your private library or living room. In our view this is not merely a bookcase, this is a work of art. The half open design with its built-in pedestals on either side is the first thing that catches ones attention. Another element that is at least as interesting is the saying on the top/front of this cabinet. To not judge a book by its cover (as we would say in modern English) ofcourse is a timeless metaphorical expression. To have it on a bookcase makes it both literal and humorous and to us that makes this unique antique even more meaningful and desirable. Finally, the embossed and aesthetically beautiful brass hinges are the like icing on the cake of this fine antique. Especially when placed against your wall, this one of a kind bookcase is as stable as the day it was handcrafted well over 100 years ago. It comes with all 42 antique glass panels still intact and it even comes with the original and working lock and key. The three strong and mint condition bookshelves are adjustable in height and they have a strip of oak on the front so that the front of this bookcase has the same color and marvelous patina everywhere. Including the bottom of the inside (behind the doors) and the open tier just above the floor there are a total of five tiers for your favourite books to be displayed.
