About the Item

This stunning vintage bow front console table features gorgeous mahogany wood. The relatively small size makes it perfect for a variety of places in the home. It makes a wonderful small buffet, sofa table, or console table in a foyer. Inside, on the bottom of the middle drawer, the maker's mark for Hickory Chair Company is stamped. The mark also reveals this piece to be from the James River Plantations collection. This particular model was produced in the 1980s. This piece features three drawers. Each drawer slides easily on wooden runners and was constructed with dovetailed joints. They also feature locks, however, no key remains with the piece. Inside the middle drawer is a lift out felt liner for silverware. Cosmetically, this vintage bow front console combines gorgeous inlays with the mahogany wood for a beautiful effect. Georgian style fan inlays adorn the top of the front legs and the front corners of the tops. A satinwood string inlay and mahogany cross band set off the bow front shape nicely. Finally, satinwood inlays along the bottom of the apron and near the bottom of each leg tie everything together perfectly. The overall condition of this piece remains quite good. The legs are sturdy. The top has sustained some light scratches that we tried to capture in the pictures. There is a small veneer repair to the front edge, also pictured. Finally, small general wear and use marks exist here and there throughout. The finish remains in great condition. The distance from the floor to the bottom of this vintage bow front console table measures 25".
