Antique 18th Century Georgian Oak Inlaid Welsh Dresser Plate Rack Sideboard 1780

A very fine antique English George III period oak Welsh dresser with plate rack, circa 1780. This very handsome oak dresser of attractive proportions comes from the Conwy area of North Wales, it is in two sections: dresser base & plate rack top. The enclosed plate rack with step shaped cornice with an inlaid pediment below of geometric fruitwood inlay of lozenge shape, the plate rack with three shelves. The base with three frieze drawers over three central drawers and are flanked by two arched paneled cupboard doors enclosing spacious storage areas, all the drawers and doors are fitted with the original round pulls. The dresser base has corresponding lozenge shaped fruitwood inlays & the drawers and doors have 'kite' shaped fruitwood inlaid escutcheons/lock-plates, the dresser is raised on shaped bracket feet. The dresser and plate rack are in excellent antique condition, all the drawers and doors open and close with ease, the dresser and rack have just lovingly received a coat of wax in Bloomsbury's professional workshops and has a very attractive deep honey colored, warm patina This lovely example of vernacular Welsh furniture represents a late 1700s dresser and plate rack, in untouched, unaltered, original condition and is ready to grace your space.
