Antique 19th century Baroque Spanish Desk ‘Bargueño’ in solid walnut

About the Item

This beautiful Spanish baroque desk (bargueno) is made in solid walnut wood and was made around 1880. This typical Spanish desk with drop down front has been decorated with many brass applications. These applications are ajour cut, (open work) with a red velvet background. It stands on a base of the type called “foot bridge” (“de pie de puente”) by the shape and decoration of the central ‘”chambrana” with arches and elements in relief. The interior of the desk is divided into three parts by four columns. It features 8 drawers and one interior compartment closed by two doors. The whole interior is also made of solid walnut and a rich patina. This bargueno has been carefully restored wit hits antique appearance in mind.

    Repaired. Wear consistent with age and use. Condition details: This piece has been restored in our workshop. Cracks in both sides were closed, locks were repaired and the color was revived. It was finished with a fresh wax coat to enhance its rich patina and shine.
