Antique mid 18th century German warm brown two door demountable cabinet

About the Item

This stunning antique cabinet was crafted in the mid-18th century, around 1750, in the Westphalia region of Germany. Made entirely from the finest quality European summer oak, carefully selected for its beautiful grain pattern, the wood panels feature an extraordinary design that almost resembles a painting. The cabinet has two doors, richly adorned with geometric moldings. The side stiles and lower rail are fitted with recessed panels, framed by subtle trim work. At the base, the cabinet features a finely detailed molding that extends outward, ending on solid oak, carved legs. The top is crowned with an elegant cornice, adding to its regal appearance. The cabinet boasts a warm brown color with a stunning patina and deep shine. Inside, it is fitted with three full-length shelves and two half-length shelves, the fronts of which are decorated with a "counted money" motif. Beneath the middle shelf, a drawer is tucked away. When the doors are open, the beautiful hand-forged iron hinges, along with the striking lock and bolts, are visible. The original iron hardware is authentic and in excellent condition. This cabinet is fully demountable, making transport and installation easy. A few decades ago, it was carefully adapted to be taken apart, during which the interior shelving, back panel, and legs were expertly replaced. The craftsmanship was done to the highest standards, respecting the antique character of the piece. In our workshop, the cabinet was gently cleaned and treated with a fresh layer of wax. The lock spring was replaced, restoring full functionality. The cabinet is clean, sturdy, and ready for immediate use.
