French 18th Century Louis XVI Period Mahogany Cabinet

About the Item

An elegant and high quality French 18th century Louis XVI period Mahogany and ormolu cabinet and clock. The two piece cabinet is raised by lovely topie shaped feet below the straight mottled apron. The base displays a fine recessed panel at the front, back and each side showcasing the beautiful Mahogany grain with the sides displaying single doors which open to reveal one shelf and the original hardware. Above is an open compartment with shelves above two drawers each decorated with fine ormolu pulls. The elegantly curved top crown is centered by the enameled clock face with Roman numeral hour markers and Arabic numeral minute markers with lovely pierced ormolu hands with beautiful richly chased acorn finials and a striking urn draped in swaging berried laurel garlands. All original gilt throughout.
