Japanese Antique Huge Black Tansu 1860s-1900s / Cabinet Wabi Sabi

About the Item

This is a very old huge black Tansu made in Japan. This furniture was made in the Meiji era. (1860s-1900s). Material is cedar wood. The design is simple and rustic. No useless design, ultimate simplicity. You can feel the tasteful history of more than 100 years. The type with drawer storage in the center is rare. The depth size is also thin, giving it a very stylish impression. The doors and drawers move smoothly. The entire furniture has been cleaned and sanitized. Best condition for furniture of this period. You can use this item with confidence. This item evokes the spirit of wabi-sabi, the Japanese philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection and impermanence. It is the opposite of vulgarity; it is understated, modest, and unconventional beauty. This is a unique and very rare piece of furniture. It weighs approximately 80 kg. Since ancient times, people have created and inherited necessary tools from familiar materials to survive in the severe struggle against nature, and have nurtured a lifestyle and culture. Over a long period of time, the tools accumulate their flavor and reflect the way of life. The harsher the natural environment and the weaker human beings are, the stronger their power becomes. In today's world, where cheap and disposable products are encouraged, the act of repeatedly modifying and re-creating the things around us opens up a new world. With this philosophy in mind, we carefully select and collect beautiful, powerful, and unique Japanese antiques.
