Large Chinese Qing Dynasty 19th Century Cabinet with Hand-Carved and Gilt Panels

About the Item

A Chinese Qing Dynasty period wide and large cabinet from the 19th century, with hand-carved and gilt panels. Created in China during the Qing Dynasty, this large and wide cabinet features a carved cornice sitting above four doors, adorned with hand-carved and gilded wooden panels, standing out beautifully on a red ground. These low-relief and gilded motifs depict traditional Chinese auspicious flowers and birds, such as a rooster or a peony, topped with court scenes. The doors open thanks to brass hardware to reveal inner shelves and hidden drawers as well as a removable bottom. Completed by carved spandrels, the cabinet is raised on four straight legs. With its large proportions and skillfully carved motifs, this Chinese 19th century Qing Dynasty cabinet will make for a great addition to any bedroom or living room.
