Russian 19th Century Empire Style Mahogany and Ormolu Deux-Corps Cabinet

About the Item

A most impressive and grand scale Russian 19th century Empire st. mahogany and ormolu Deux-Corps cabinet. The cabinet is raised by fine ball feet encased by handsome ormolu claws. Above each foot are intricately detailed pierced scrolled and palmette designed mounts with a central mount of a seated man. At the center are two drawers decorated at the front and sides with richly chased and intricately detailed eagles, cherubs picking fruit from trees, maidens in classical attire, ormolu pulls with swaging foliate garlands, and handsome pierced palmettes. Above are the impressive mirrored doors adorned with additional pierced palmettes, foliate movements and richly chased rosettes in a satin and burnished finish. The doors open to reveal two stationary shelves. Flanking the doors are handsome architectural columns with ormolu plinths and top caps. The exceptional top crown is decorated in the same manner as the rest of the cabinet with additional pierced palmettes, foliate mounts and stunning urns at each corner. Exceptional quality and warm wood grain throughout.
