Walnut Midcentury Cabinet, Dry Bar, Velum Doors in the Manner of Fornasetti

This splendid and rare large furniture piece includes three doors with engraved signed keys from the artist Gaston Poisson, “GP”. This circa 1937 cabinet is made of green lacquered* mahogany and contains 12 interior shelves (three doors each with 4 shelves), each shelf featuring beautiful marquetry detail. The centerpiece of this beautiful cabinet is the large exterior mirror by Robert Pansart. This is made of "églomisé" glass with a polychrome geometric ribbon-like decor. Églomisé glass is a technique used often for mirrors that creates intricate decoration using golden leaves and silver. *THE LACQUER IS NOT ORIGINAL, THE CABINET HAS BEEN REFINISHED LATE 20 CENTURY Gaston Poisson, a cabinetmaker from Lille, France, is a renowned Renaissance designer best known for his modernist work. He has a unique taste for pure clean lines, mostly from the 1950s-1960s, which is exemplified in this particular piece. The square and diagonal motifs visible on the facade of the cabinet as well as the ornate marquetry on the interior shelves show that this piece was highly specialized, a well thought out piece made with incredible care. Robert Pansart is a French glassmaker and decorator who specialized in his unique technique of etching and oxidizing with “églomisé” glass. One of the most highly regarded glassmakers of his time, he mainly worked from post war years to the 1960s, and his work is reminiscent of a world based on fairy tales – evocative of the 1940s-1950s taste. His mirrors tend to appear in the antique art market and are valued as highly collectible pieces. Exceptional series of Louis XVI lyre chairs in lacquered wood, a prized model and symbol of refinement in the 18th century. While these chairs are unstamped, their details are strongly reminiscent of a production by Jacob: finessed sculpture with sophisticated grooves…these proportions are perfect and light, a touch of exquisite taste. These chairs feature ancient lacquer in two tones (white with blue highlights) The fabric of seats have been restored The assembly of these chairs has been checked and remains solid - The original trim on the springs and straps have been preserved and remain in good condition. The laque is in it original statement, we do not like to make up the antic pieces preferring to leave them in their statements. Nevertheless we work with highly qualified restorers and at your request and charge we can care of it. The 7th chair is free and not included on the picture as it has more cracks and fissures. This pectacular and very rare bar cabinet created by Vittorio Dassi is from the 1940s It features 6 doors opening on various storage compartments .Top left has got 2 shelves as top right opens to reveal a very elegant bar .This bar is lit by the top and has got mirrors on its sides, 1 glass shelf and 2 little shelves hold by silver bronze brackets on its doors. Bottom left section opens on 1 large drawer and bottom right section opens on a series fo drawers. Externally it is made of rich burled walnut and cedar .Each door features gorgeous engraved green Arte Fontana glass handles hold by 2 guilt bronze claws. Its base is very elegant too, with its sculptural shape ,its brass trim and its central Arte Fontana glass decor. Its top is in black opaline. It is a top of the range quality piece of furniture as the front of its drawer and its doors are very deep and sturdy.
