Empire Style Chest of Drawers with Painted Trompe L'Oeil, France, 19th Century

About the Item

Tall French Empire-style commode. The pine wood is painted in a faux-bois trompe l'oeil imitating mahogany. Wood columns on either side are painted a darker color. The chest is in two parts (top and bottom). The divide can be seen from the side (see photo 5). Contains five drawers.
