French Antique Raised Chest w/its Original Finish, Rococo Hardware, & Hoof Feet
About the Item
A French raised two-drawer chest, with its original finish, from the early 19th century. This antique commode from France features a rectangular-shaped top, whose edge slightly overhangs the case beneather, which houses a pair of vertically stacked drawers, and is raised nicely from the ground on a pair of outwardly facing shapely legs at front (which terminate into petite hoof style feet), and straight legs at rear. Elaborate rococo hardware with centered escutcheons, adorn the drawer fronts. Recessed panels decorate the sides, and backside remains unfinished. The front skirt is scalloped, with sides remaining clean and straight. This early 19th French raised chest retains its original brick red finish with off-white trim accent.
