French Louis XVI Commode
About the Item
This commode is remarkable for its originality. it seems to be entirely as it was made in the late 18th century.. The top drawer which appears to be three short drawers is actually one long one. The beveled St Anne marble top is original too. The mahogany is particularly well -chosen and has a deeply patinated brown sheen. The mounts are carefully chosen to accent without overwhelming the simple quality. This is a piece that will always be in fashion, like a well made Windsor chair. As a tour de force it has the original lock and quatrefoil key adding both security and originality
