Small Danish Gustavian Chest of Drawers in Original Coral Paint

About the Item

Small Louis XVI / Gustavian chest of drawers in pine with its original coral-red paint and subtle traces of gilding on mouldings and carved details. Architecturally composed with clean lines and balanced proportions. The chest features four drawers with moulded fronts and original brass hardware. The top is finished with a moulded cornice decorated with carved interlaced and diamond motifs and dentil detailing. Canted corners with fluted decoration. Raised on a separate base and standing on tapered, fluted legs ending in carved feet. Well preserved with original paint and a natural patina consistent with age. Denmark, circa 1780–1790
