A very fine Early 18th Century French Louis XV style commode "forme galbée" or bombe serpentine embellished with extraordinary, original ormolu mounts and fixtures throughout. Beautifully detailed inlay work including the 3 primary centered "trèfle à quatre feuilles" - four leaf clovers. This exquisite 18th Century French Louis XV style commode is stamped by the ebeniste Przirembel. It has been carefully restored and refinished to museum quality perfection using traditional French techniques. Original marble top, locks and key. Key designed with a beautiful fleur-de-lis. The body of this very fine quality 18th Century French Louis XV style bombe commode is composed of four drawers and mounted atop shaped sabre feet. Extraordinary ormolu bronze mounted decorations throughout. This magnificent commode is made of rosewood, walnut, mahogany and kings wood. Remarkable patina. Dating from the 18th century this piece exemplifies French craftsmanship. The original marble top is very unique in color with green, gray and red hues. Measures: Depth 25 in. x Width 51.50 in. x Height 32.50 in. About the Ebeniste: Godefroy Przirembel was a maitre ebeniste in Paris, France. Prziembel, was a native of Pitschen in Silesia, was made a master laborer-cabinetmaker in 1766, and three years later married in the chapel of the Swedish Embassy with the daughter of a watchmaker. They settled in rue des Canettes, near the Place Saint-Sulpice. Prziembel, known in the trade by his first name of Godefroy, specially produced mahogany tables. He was still practicing in August 1795. He is amongst the greatest ebenistes of the Louis XV period. Silesia, Polish Śląsk, Czech Slezsko, German Schlesien, historical region that is now in southwestern Poland. Silesia was originally a Polish province, which became a possession of the Bohemian crown in 1335, passed with that crown to the Austrian Habsburgs in 1526, and was taken by Prussia in 1742. In 1945, at the end of World War II, Silesia was one of the regions of German territory that was granted to Poland by the Soviet Union in compensation for land in eastern Poland that was incorporated into the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

    A very fine quality Louis XVI Style ormolu-mounted commode or chest of drawers with an Italian white marble top that is truly breathtaking! Intricate inlaid marquetry design throughout, the front and sides of the piece as well. Remarkable attention to detail in the brass mounts and other hardware! This beautiful Louis XVI style ormolu-mounted commode inlaid with marquetry and parquetry of rosewood, satinwood, possibly amaranth and painted wood inlays, some similarities to the model by Jean-Henri Riesener, Circa 1880. The breakfront white marble top above a conforming moulded cornice and a pair of large deep drawers inlaid with a central foliate, flanked by lattice and patera-decorated panels, the sides with similar panels, the angles with acanthus-cast volutes, on scrolled acanthus feet. The white marble top with striations and veins coming through. Generously sized, the two spacious drawers are perfect for storing your belongings.
