18th Century English George III Chest on Chest in Oak with Pull Out Secretary


A very handsome early Georgian highboy or chest on chest with dentil moulded cornice above Greek-key moulding, with three drawers over six graduated drawers with original brass escutcheon plates and swan-neck bail handles. The bottom drawer of top opens to a stand up pull-out fall front secretary with drawers and various compartments for letters and valuables with banded marquetry inlays. Chest is supported on carved ogee-bracket feet. England, circa 1780. Measure: 44 1/2" wide x 21" deep x 75" high Stand up writing surface is 40 " from the floor.

    Good. Chest in an an antique Manor House condition, drawers and mechanical function work well, some repairs, not over restored. Original wax finish with a beautiful patina.
