Antique 18th Century Dutch Rococo Oak Bomb Chest of Drawers with Claw Feet

About the Item

Rare Dutch chest of drawers with an amazing patina. We have sold many rare pieces of furniture, but never before did we own an original, 18th century, Dutch Rococo chest of drawers. Because these have always been very rare and sought after, in the 19th and also in the 20th century many, many reproductions have been made. The overal design, the ancient (non-working) locks, the original bronze handles and lock plates with the rams heads, the age and patina of the oak, the original claw feet but also the hand-forged wrought iron nails in the back panels tell us that this is an 18th century bomb chest. Hand-crafted in the Netherlands in a time where they did not have the tools (and certainly not the machines) that we have today this chest would have been made only for the very well to do. The design and the patina combined with the stunning and complete bronze hardware made us want to own it, the fact that it is in remarkable condition did not hurt either. To us this work of beauty is perfect for decorating an entrance, a bedroom or a landing. Again great value for money. Especially when taken into account that perfect packing (in a custom made crate with cushions) and worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 days are complimentary. Measures: Maximum width x height x depth 41.3 x 31.5 x 20.3 inches. Maximum width x depth of the top 37.4 x 19.5 inches.
