French Empire Semainier Tall Chest of Drawers

About the Item

A classic early French Empire semainier in Mahogany, each of the seven drawers (intended to be used one for each day of the week), has ebony inlay around each of the gilded lion’s mask door pulls, and a fine gilded escutcheon around the key hole; the chest has it’s original ‘clover’ key, as well as it’s grey fossil marble top, the whole resting on front faux painted bronze lion’s paw feet.

    A Louis XV period Dutch mahogany armoire and chest of drawers that in its time would have been used as a linen press.
