Signed Andre Sornay Chest in Ribbon Mahogany and Brass

About the Item

This magnificent commode is shipped as professionally photographed and described in the listing narrative: Meticulously professionally polished and completely installation ready. An exquisite example by one of the truly important furniture designers of the 20th century. Andre Sornay (1902-2000) was a member of the Union des Artistes Moderne (UAM), an association comprised of French architects, designers and artists. The furniture component of the movement sought to create modern designs that were both functional and practical, with focus upon the fusion of art and architecture. Mr. Sornay is known for the unique designs he created through the expert use of fine woods, metals and lacquer. Excellent Vintage Condition. The chest has been professionally cleaned and polished. It displays fabulous warmth, depth and patina. The piece is branded in back with the maker mark.
