A beautiful pair of Swedish Gustavian style painted chests from the 19th century with egg and dart carving; canted corner posts; and square, fluted legs. Each chest has three drawers, brass hardware and original locks with keys. The Gustavian style, named after King Gustav III of Sweden, is a restrained interpretation of the French Louis XV and Louis XVI style. King Gustav III was enamored with the neoclassical style and therefore created his own interpretation for Sweden.
