English Regency Mahogany Two Door Credenza / Side Cabinet, Early 19th Century

About the Item

This Regal English Regency mahogany two door credenza / side cabinet is made in the early 19th Century using fine Cuban Mahogany with Gilt Bronze Mounts. The Regency Credenza top is made from one solid mahogany board with reeded edges and veneered in one single Crotch Mahogany Flame running left to right framed in a West Indian Satinwood. The Regency Egyptian Revival Side Cabinet has a hand carved Reeded Front Frieze flanked by gilt bronze Leopard Mask above solid mahogany carved twist opposite turn columns. The Bookcase Doors are trimmed by Ebony Cock Bead with inset Double Woven Brass Grills and an Ebony Astragal dividing the cupboard doors. The Regency Side Cabinet set on a solid mahogany reeded base supported by two Leopard Paws. The use of decorative animal motifs of this Credenza highlights the Classical Roman Design elements often showcased in the Thomas Hope Design.
