M.F. Harty for Stow Davis "Tomorrow" Floating Pedestal Executive Credenza, 1974

About

An incredibly rare and special Executive Credenza designed by M. F. Harty and produced by Stow Davis as part of the "Tomorrow" collection in 1974; a series of designs that were futuristic and produced in extremely low numbers, making each piece highly sought after collectors items. It is estimated that only approximately 30 were made so if you or your client seeks to have what almost no one else has, this piece provides that ultimate bragging right. *Note, we have the rare matching desk in another listing. It's so rare to come across one of these desks, let alone with matching credenza. Contact us if you wish to purchase the pair, for a consolidated shipping quote. This wildly unique executive credenza features three pull-out file drawers flanked by two cabinet doors. High gloss french polished walnut give extreme depth to vivid wood grain detail to the massive piece which floats top a U-shaped chromed pedestal. Inside the cabinet doors are mirrored panelling and inside the file drawers are chromed details, giving more futuristic elements to this Space Age collectors piece. Both the desk and the credenza were acquired from the original owners estate, only gentle mild wear is noticeable upon close inspection therefore we consider this to be in very good condition, excellent condition if you consider its age. We decided not to refinish this piece because it is a rare collectors item and to give the buyer the option to keep it in its beautiful soft patina with light surface level (to the lacquer, not the wood) scratches or to refinish it to be like-new. The patina gives it age and character, yet the piece has no visible flaws or defects, is sturdy and structurally sound, presents beautifully and is ready for immediate use. Prior to shipping we will provide a free hand polish to the current high gloss lacquered finish. If you wish to have a full refinish with new lacquer and hand polish, please contact us. This sometimes misattributed to Vladimir Kagan and Paul Evans futuristic executive credenza / sideboard/ cabinet would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Post-Modern room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an Apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Measurements: H 28.5" x W 93" x D 22".
