The Scallop credenza is a stunning Art Deco inspired design that celebrates the elegance of form, value of materials and decadent details. Combining craftsmanship and modern sensibilities in design, the cabinet’s fabulous exterior is methodically handcrafted with intricate solid brass inlay. The cabinet presents a strong Solid Oak body with beautiful grains, where each carefully crafted door is a harmonious artful juxtaposition that adds rhythm and sophistication to any space. The arc shaped legs complete the form of the symmetrical inlay pattern. Custom crafted brass door-knob handles are with a scoop detail to provide a firm grip allowing one to access the cabinet’s solid teak interiors for storage of prized possessions. The Scallop credenza's body and interiors are crafted through joinery in American Oak, stained and hand-finished using 0% VOC( Volatile Organic Compounds) finishes. The namesake of this piece is an alley one block from our Los Angeles studio, known for its bazaar-like display of stalls hawking clothes and textiles at wholesale prices. The scene is reminiscent of markets in Central America and, walking through it during breaks from the shop, one feels instantly transported out of the US. It's a hectic environment, however, and the Santee Sideboard is a meditation on minimalism in answer to the raucous consumerism taking place below.
