1920s Spanish Renaissance Revival Cupboard / Cabinet In Oak For Magasin Du Nord

About the Item

Impressive Spanish Renaissance Revival cabinet, specially commissioned for Magasin du Nord in Copenhagen during the 1920s. Crafted from solid oak, this high-quality piece reflects the rich historicist style popular in the early 20th century. The façade is defined by deeply carved geometric paneling with strong architectural framing, characteristic of the Spanish Renaissance tradition. The doors feature bold, layered moldings and recessed central panels, complemented by original brass hardware with decorative backplates and drop pulls. Below, two drawers echo the geometric detailing, enhancing the cabinet’s harmonious design. The cabinet stands on elegantly turned barley-twist front legs connected by stretchers, adding both structural strength and visual refinement. Inside, it offers practical shelving space and generous storage, combining functionality with striking period aesthetics. A finely executed and substantial oak cabinet with excellent craftsmanship, made exclusively for one of Copenhagen’s most prestigious department stores.
