French Wild Cherry "Fougère" Armoire

About the Item

French Louis XV style wild cherry ("merisier") armoire with the veneered door panels in a chevron pattern (also called a "fougère" pattern, after the French word for "fern"). The side panels are oak. The centre of the armoire features a nicely carved column spanning its height, with book-matched cherry inlay framed by string inlay. The base features a horizontal burl wood detail framed with string inlay matching the column. The interior of the armoire is finished with a single shelf. Brass hinges run the length of the doors, and brass escutcheons finish the doors.
