19th Century French Inlaid Marquetry Bonheur-du-jour Writing Desk
About
A French 19th century Louis XV style ladies writing desk or ‘bonheur du jour’ having a drawer beneath the leather writing surface and an upper superstructure with beveled glass cabinet to the left and small upper right-hand drawer. The piece is embellished throughout with floral marquetry and inlaid stringing. Pierced brass galleries accent the upper back surfaces and gilt mounts punctuate the legs and feet of the desk.
