1960's Danish Teak Highboy Chest Dresser With Carved Oval Recessed Pulls

About the Item

Just look at the matched pattern grain drawer fronts on this early Danish highboy. The fiery cathedrals cover all 7-drawers and showcase the use of the natural elements to compliment the Scandinavian design. This chest is an exemplary specimen of Danish cabinet making. Tightly dovetailed drawers, beautiful teak wood and easy gliding drawers are hallmarks of the superior craftsmanship. There is no particle board anywhere. Instead we see solid pine wood, covered in thick teak veneer. The fit and finish are superb. Decades of rich patina has turned this teak to an almost burgundy color. Not to be outdone, the carved, recessed oval pulls are yet another shade darker. The maker used an additional specimen of solid, tawny teak to create the pulls. The overall combination of tones is stunning. Measures: 37” Wide x 16.5” Deep x 48.75” High

Mid-Century Raymond Loewy Inspired Yellow Chapter One Highboy Dresser Chest
By Broyhill, Raymond Loewy
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Broyhill’s Chapter One Collection is officially harder to find and more sought after than the Raymond Loewy orginals. With all due respect to Raymond Loewy, there really is something magical about the Chapter One line. Maybe they’re just more fun and approachable. Maybe it’s the proportions and practicality. Regardless, they’re one of our favourite collections of all time. This tall stack of sunburst yellow...

Vintage 1970s Raymond Loewy Style Space Age Green Chapter One Highboy Dresser
By Raymond Loewy, Broyhill
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Vintage 1970s Space Age green and white Broyhill Chapter One highboy dresser. The 1970s era Chapter One collection was Broyhill’s playful re-imagining of Raymond Loewy’s work for French, brand DF200. Broyhill successfully made the Chapter One line more approachable for the American market. This tall stack of green drawers looks like LEGO come time life. Exciting, bold yet practical, these deep drawers can hold heaps of stuff. We have a matching low dresser and nightstand as well as several yellow Chapter One pieces. Inquire if you are interested in buying any of the other pieces and need group pricing. The restoration team pulled no punches on this Chapter One green highboy dresser, and the end result exceeded our expectations. Every inch of painted wood (including base) was professionally sanded primed and painted to match the original bright white. The laminate top and canary green molded plastic drawer fronts were finally buffed and polished to a glassy shine. 39.5” Wide x 18” Deep x 43.75” High Broyhill’s Chapter one collection borrowed from the plastic mold injection designs made famous by legendary designer Raymond Loewy. Like Loewy, these Chapter One Dressers employ the futuristic use of color and materials in a way that had not been seen before. The bright yellow plastic captures the playful spirit of the 1970s. The dresser is supported by a lacquered plinth base with rounded corners. This colorful, curvaceous case-good could have blended in nicely on the set of 2001 A Space Odyssey. The space-age look has never been more desirable, which may help explain the recent scarcity of all things Chapter One. We also have matching pieces including two low dressers, yellow nightstand...

Lam Lee Memphis Style Silver and Gold Leaf Dresser Lingerie Chest
By Ettore Sottsass
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Equally beautiful as anything hanging in the Guggenheim and deserved the respect. Exquisitely crafted by Lam Lee. Covered from head to toe in a mix of gold leaf, silver leaf and hand painted lacquer designs. The faux coral wood pulls are so convincingly organic that you have to touch them to believe it's not actually shell. Deep drawers on metal glides are interior lined in black velvet. It's not easy to categorize this look, so we sent a pic to the scientists at NASA (not really), they crunched some numbers and here's the completely arguable composition breakdown. 50% Memphis 20% Neo deco...

Large Raymond Loewy Inspired Yellow Chapter One Gentlemans Chest Armoire
By Broyhill, Ettore Sottsass, Raymond Loewy
Located in Chattanooga, TN
This model is nearly impossible to find. Moreover, yellow is the most sought after option. Combined with the fact that we've restored this piece to outstanding condition, we're certain you WILL NOT find a more sublime rendition. Well it’s 2024, and Broyhill’s Chapter One Collection is officially harder to find and more sought after than the Raymond Loewy orginals. With all due respect to Raymond Loewy, there really is something magical about the Chapter One line. Maybe they’re just more fun and approachable. Maybe it’s the proportions and practicality. Regardless, they’re one of our favourite collections of all time. The restoration team pulled no punches on this Chapter One Yellow Highboy Dresser, and the end result exceeded our expectations. Every inch of painted wood (including base) was professionally sanded primed and painted to match the original bright white. The laminate top and canary yellow molded plastic door / drawer fronts were finally buffed and polished to a glassy shine. Unlike the traditional Chapter One Highboy, this "Gentleman's Chest" version is step up in style and function. The open cabinet space on the left features a removable and adjustable height shelf, painted in gloss white of course. The right side has two hinged doors that open to reveal an additional (3) drawers. These also sport the signature white facades, and open / close with ease on the ball-bearing metal tracks. This dresser was built like a tank, but looks like a Lamborghini. It’s tough to see this one go, but we know it will be loved. Broyhill’s Chapter one collection borrowed from the plastic mold injection designs made famous by legendary designer Raymond Loewy. Like Loewy, these Chapter One Dressers employ the futuristic use of color and materials in a way that had not been seen before. The bright yellow plastic captures the playful spirit of the 1970s. The Gentleman's Chest Cabinet is supported by a lacquered plinth base with rounded corners. This colorful, curvaceous case-good could have blended in nicely on the set of 2001 A Space Odyssey. The space-age look has never been more desirable, which may help explain the recent scarcity of all things Chapter One. Chapter One Yellow Dresser...
