Mid-Century 8 Drawer Dresser in Bleached Mahogany by Landstrom Furniture Co.
About the Item
This lovely mid-century 8 drawer dresser was made by Landstrom Furniture Company in Rockford, IL. The dresser was made with bleached ribbon mahogany and features stunning copper hardware that has a chinoiserie feel to it and lovely patina. Personally, I think the hardware is the star here.
This is a vintage piece that was very gently used. There are very light scratches (see close up images for detailed views) and some imperfections at the bottom of the legs (detailed images show all imperfections).
We have 2 of these dressers available but we are pricing them individually. If you're interested in purchasing both dressers, please contact us for an additional discount.
Landstrom was one of several large manufacturers of furniture located in Rockford, IL. In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s Rockford was the second largest city in Illinois in part because it was home to several furniture manufacturers. Rockford’s dense forests provided manufacturers with a steady supply of raw goods. Swedish immigrants brought the necessary talents and skills sets for furniture building.
The Landstrom Furniture Company came into existence after Oscar Landstrom bought the Superior Furniture Company (originally established in 1905) in 1941. They made fine furniture in Rockford until 1958.
Most of Landstrom's furniture was made of native woods; black walnut (abundant in the Rockford area) maple, ash, and cherry. Occasionally exotic woods from Honduras (mahogany) and the Philippines (teak) were used. The craftsmanship was excellent.
