19th Century Biedermeier Column Secretary

About the Item

Cuba mahogany on pine tree. Architecturally arranged front. High-right body on padfoot feet. Fitted with three drawers of different sizes, the base drawer is curved. Straight writing plate, behind staggered office division. Flanked by two full columns of massive beech, carved and gilt bases and capitals. Trellised cornice with so-called "Schinkel roof", below ebonized tooth frames. There is a secret compartment in the stairs. (L-112).
