19th Century Swedish Country Folk Art Writing Bureau

About the Item

Country home writing bureau in folk art from northern Sweden. The bureau is from around 1820 to 1830 and has a writing desk with interior drawers with brass drawer pulls. Underneath the writing desk are 3 large drawers which are in fully functional condition. They also have the original drawer pulls in brass. The paint is the first layer of original paint and it’s a light paint. Something that was very unusual at the time. The interior paint is also original as well as an unusual colour. The table top is painted with a technique to make it look marbled. The bureau is made in pine and is healthy and solid. A fun details is that there is newspaper in some of the drawers which are dated 1919. The height to the writing flap is 75.5 cm which is a good height to use as a desk for writing or for a computer.
