Antique Biedermeier Secretary in Cuban Mahogany, Copenhagen, circa 1820

About the Item

An exquisite Biedermeier secretary in very fine Cuban/ West Indies mahogany with all of the original appointments which include the hardware, pulls and keys. The cabinet's joinery, along with the quality of the book-matching of the crotch mahogany throughout, exhibits masterly craftsmanship. Features one long drawer above fall-front desk, with three large storage drawers below. Interior offers a plethora of small drawers above a longer interior drawer posing as three. There are three drawers inside a keyed compartment. Copenhagen, Denmark, circa 1820. Measurements: 42 1/2" wide x 20 1/4" deep x 58 3/4" high; Writing surface: 32" height from floor; Overall desk surface: 35" wide x 18 1/4" deep Note: You should always request a shipping quote.     Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Beautifully restored & French polished. There are several superficial cracks in veneer on the fall front that have been repaired & a minor veneer crack on the top that has also been repaired. They are superficial & pose no threat to the structure.
