Fine Quality Neoclassical Period Dutch Inlaid Exotic Woods Secretaire Abattant

About

A fine quality Dutch or Northern European neoclassical style inlaid tulipwood, satinwood and specimen wood secretaire abattant, the counterweighted drop front opens to reveal a fitted interior, the prospect door inlaid with three ostrich feathers emerging from a gold coronet, and further fitted with 6 small drawers and cubby holes. The writing surface is lined with pale green leather framed by gimp. The cabinet rests on inlaid square tapered legs, circa 1825.

    Sides with vertical shrinkage cracks; front lower panels with repaired shrinkage cracks. Height of writing surface is 33 inches. Depth of piece when writing surface is open is 37 inches.
