French Empire Mahogany and Ormolu-Mounted Escritoire or Secretaire

About the Item

A French Empire mahogany and ormolu mounted writing cabinet surmounted by a Belgian marble-top, fitted with a frieze drawer, the fall inclosing a fitted interior with tooled original leather lined panel, a compartment with seven various small drawers and one long drawer above two small detached columns. The lower part opens by two folding doors, revealing three drawers in mahogany veneer on oak. The secretaire or writing desk with flamed Cuban mahogany providing an outstanding decorative effect and with two detached columns with finely chased ormolu rings on top and bottom.
