George III 18th Century Period Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase Attributed to Gillow
The rectangular dentil moulded cornice is surmounted on vertical cut mahogany veneers above a pair of oval-shaped astragal glazed doors enclosing three adjustable shelves. The lower section of the bookcase with a fully fitted secretaire drawer opens to reveal pigeon-holes and mahogany-lined drawers with a green baize writing surface. This sits above highly figured mahogany cupboard doors that open to reveal a bank of three full length drawers. The secretaire bookcase stands on elegantly fine bracket feet and retains the original Classic oval Gillows gilt brass handles. 92cm deep when secretaire drawer open.
