A captivating one of a kind Louis Phillip secretary in book-matched, flame mahogany with shaped, curvi-linear drawer fronts and faux drawer fronts on the fall-front and the sides. Offers four hidden compartments for valuables. Northern Germany, circa 1855.
The transition from Biedermeier to Grunderzeit (the period of the New Republic in Germany) corresponds with a period referred to as Northern European Louis Philippe (1850-70), reflecting a move from the austere and linear lines of Biedermeier toward softer curves and carving.
This is one exceptional piece of artistry, ideal as a focal point or anchor in a living room, bedroom or library!
