Tall Oak Secretary Bureau from Sweden, circa 1800-20

About the Item

This 7' tall oak secretary is an elegant statement piece crowned with an elaborate carved pediment over paneled cabinet doors. The secretary has been given a professional custom layered painted finish of beige, cream and tan which has been gently distressed to reveal the original oak underneath, adding both dimension and character to this bureau. The middle section (with contrasting blue painted interior) is the traditional desk which includes multiple petite drawers that are revealed when the desk top is opened, resting on two extending arms. The upper section has 2 cabinet doors which opens to reveal two standard shelves. The 3rd upper small shelf originally served as a spoon rack for fine silver. The lock for upper exterior door functions and original key is included, but may be easier to simply use as a pull. The lower three drawers open using two brass pulls each. Desk top that lowers does not have functioning lock. This painted secretary is restored, solid/stable and ready to be used. It is built in two sections allowing for easier transportation and installation. All scratches, cracks, dings, and age related separation(back, drawer bottoms) are reflective of age/use and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this striking secretary. Please refer to professional photos for clear understanding of color, condition, and details; photo lighting, individual monitor display and home lighting all impact how item is viewed.
