19th century American Monumental Mirrored Mahogany Sideboard with Carved Eagle

About the Item

Truly one of a kind and right out of a Southern antebellum home, this monumental sized mahogany sideboard features all the bells and whistles of the Rococo Revival furniture period. Attributed to J.H. Belter, a New York cabinet maker, taste for his "French" designs was strongest in the deep South in homes of the lower Mississippi Valley. Four reflective mirrors are featured below with a large hand carved mirror atop the double beveled serpentine cut marble top surface. A large carved majestic eagle serves as the crest, with fruit, wheat and leaf decoration throughout. Museum quality. Shelves behind all four cabinet doors. with lock and key mechanism in center. Measures 20.50 inches deep at the very center deepest part. See other measurements below.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Very good condition with lovely original finish. Since many of our pieces are well over one to two hundred years old, there is no way for us to detect every expert repair that may have been previously made.
