Bronze Cabinet Floral Pattern by Frédérique Domergue - Limited Edition
About the Item
This credenza is clad entirely in thin bronze leaf. The cladding that covers the floral motifs sculpted in the wood is weathered and polished to lend depth. Two doors conceal shelved compartments. The inside of the credenza is made of solid oak and the center panel features burl ash. Series of eight pieces made to order.

Over nearly 20 years, French artist Frédérique Domergue has created a unique body of work based on combinations of metal and rare wood species. She learned traditional woodworking and metalworking techniques from master artisans, and quickly developed her own skillful approaches, especially metal cladding which has become her hallmark.
Frédérique Domergue uses thin sheets of metal that hug the contours of the wood (which she sometimes sculpts beforehand) to create a "second skin". The artist creates astonishing effects by transforming metal into a material that appears supple and elastic.
She draws on her extensive expertise with a wide range of metals (bronze, zinc, titanium, steel, etc.) to achieve surprising results. She sometimes uses oxidation techniques that lend sheets of zinc or bronze warm, sensual hues that shift with the light.
Her entirely hand-made pieces take on a patina over time as the unexpected alchemy of the materials reveals an array of subtle, distinguished tones. The passion that drives her, the curiosity that propels her toward new worlds and the care she brings to finishing her pieces have enabled Frédérique Domergue to produce a singular oeuvre that allies excellence, innovation, esthetics and audacity.

Cooking with leftovers is something as old as necessary and nevertheless creative. In our recipe book exist memorable dishes that are prepared with hard bread from the previous day, and chicken leftovers from Sunday’s roast. Leftovers that are wisely reused and reinterpreted. For example, the canelón or cannelloni that can be transformed into a kitchen masterpiece. Company warehouses in the design sector also accumulate leftovers. Generally, these are loose pieces or components of furniture parts that have been forgotten about and put in a drawer, because there was once an excess in fabrication or have been discontinued. It’s a considerable amount of stock that has no way out and that grows with time until it becomes a problem. It loses all its value but continues taking up space and ends up being legally certified (mandatory) to be destroyed. BD has accumulated outdated materials as well, but before considering destroying it we thought we could give it a second chance. Amongst the materials, there are the door handles and knobs designed by Cristian Cirici, which had a lot of success during the eighties of the past century, but stopped being sold when the company changed direction to focus on other markets. In our actual catalogue, there are no door handles or knobs, but we have unique pieces; so why not convert these leftovers into design and art pieces? We offer a limited edition until stocks last. This project has been named REmix, since it has something of a mix, like disco music that was fashionable at the same time the original pieces were designed.
