About the Item

Supremely elegant pair of illuminated vitrine or étagère by Kim Moltzer with a beautiful sculptural geometric form, finished in brass and chrome, which support eight glass display shelves and a further central display niche that features a reflective black glass rear panel that adds a strong central focal point. The central down lighter sin both cabinets are in fully working order. Please note the original glass shelves are chipped so we will have new glass shelves made either to the original brown smoked glass specification or clear glass or any other specification should the client prefer. Beautiful high prestige pieces that would sit well alongside the work of Gabriella Crespi, Romeo Rega, Willy Rizzo, Maria Pergay, Paul Evans etc. Kim Moltzer (1938-2015) was an architect ,artist and designer who lived and worked in Paris during the 1960s and 1970s. His exclusive high quality designs were sold through the DESIGN SA boutique located in the Boulevard Saint German in Paris. Moltzer's designs featured strong geometrical forms influenced by contemporary artists such as Ellsworth Kelly and were most often finished in a variety of metals ranging from stainless steel, chrome, brass, aluminium or bronze . Moltzer's designs as well as those created in partnership with French artist and designer Jean Paul Barray were coveted by connoisseurs and collectors ranging from the Bulgari family in Italy to the French president Georges Pompidou. Moltzer's designs can be found in the Musee des arts Decoratifs in Paris.
