Majorelle Art Deco Vitrine in Blond Mahogany Signed piece
About the Item
Japanese inspiration for this Majorelle vitrine in blond mahogany. The silk fabric inside in perfect condition is the original one from the period, this large display cabinet is in an excellent condition. Perfect for an elegant store or a huge collector living room.
The two curved side doors open on shelves. The top middle part is built with two steps on each side and probably made to present special pieces of art. The design of the fabric and the iron work in the front of the glass are the same drawing .the general architecture of the furniture is elegant and it has probably been built to exhibit a collection of precious glass pieces or porcelains. This piece could also be great for a fashion designer show room or for a collector's appartment. The signature from Majorelle is on the bottom side.
Very good condition for age.

Louis-Jean-Sylvestre Majorelle, usually known simply as Louis Majorelle, (26 September 1859 – 15 January 1926) was a French decorator and furniture designer who manufactured his own designs, in the French tradition of the ébéniste. He was one of the outstanding designers of furniture in the Art Nouveau style, and after 1901 formally served as one of the vice-presidents of the École de Nancy. The Majorelle firm's factory was designed by famous École de Nancy architect Lucien Weissenburger (1860 – 1929) and located at 6, rue du Vieil-Aître in the western part of Nancy.
