French Louis XV Period Cherry and Chestnut Two-Door Bonnetiere

About

French Louis XV Period cherry and chestnut two-door bonnetiere with original steel hinges and locks, pegged construction. The beautifully carved paneled doors and deep cove molded cornice, along with the cabriole legs make this a Classic piece. As is often the case with country made pieces in France, the side panels were made of chestnut which was less expensive, while the front and cornice are high quality cherry timber, why waste superb timber on the sides which will rarely be seen, chestnut blends well with cherry so put the money into the front and the Fine carving and detail. This piece has interior wooden lining that was added to make storage easier, as the original interior finish was rough and harder to keep clean. Extra shelving can be added if the purchaser desires, 18th century.
