Hand-painted Folk Art Wardrobe Cabinet, South German, dated 1860

About the Item

Large rural hand-painted two-door wardrobe cabinet in Baroque style, featuring a curved pediment and an apple-shaped cartouche with the monogram “EL” and dated 1860. The lower section includes two drawers, and the corners of the cabinet are chamfered. The original dark blue painted decoration displays four panels on the doors with reddish floral motifs, complemented by additional floral details on the pilasters and drawers. The carcass is made of spruce wood and fitted with iron strap hinges. The interior is fitted with rows of coat hooks, making the piece suitable for use as a wardrobe.
