About the Item
A Louis XV period Armoire with Bonnet top & shaped apron, constructed in solid Walnut and dating to the third quarter of the 1700s.
French in origin, likely Provence, unique in retaining the period interior decoration in Chinoiserie style, as shown in image 6. The body with a pair of paneled hinged doors opening on interior shelving , capped by a bonnet top with moulded cornice, and resting atop a shaped apron & cabriole feet.
The doors mounted with steel hinges & pierced Escutcheon plates around each keyhole, and fitted with their original lock.
